Carolyn Murphy :: Reptilian Overlord

Carolyn Murphy :: Reptilian Overlord

I think my headline says it all.

Seriously. The dress is actually quite beautiful: the color, the textile, the cut -- oh, all except the weird shoulder extensions. Sculptural in all the wrong ways.

Oh, by the way, this is from Project Runway All Stars.

And if anyone know who designed this dress, please comment. I'm so curious to see the rest of their collection...perhaps they do something without the excess appendages...

My Winter Picks

My Winter Picks

Hello darlings. I support Etsy, I love Etsy. I absolutely love supporting local designers (like myself!) creating handmade clothes. This is my wishlist for winter. Leggings, dresses, jackets, leg and arm warmers. Lots of cozy, lots of wool. All handmade, all beautiful. Enjoy!

Who's that Stylist? Oh Strange, Weird Stylist...

Who's that Stylist? Oh Strange, Weird Stylist...

Ok, I'm not one to get catty. I truly respect another woman's fashion choices. We all have different styles, different taste. But I really have to wonder...what is Carolyn Murphy's stylist thinking? Host of Project Runway All Stars, Season 2, model Carolyn Murphy herself chose Lisa Michelle Boyd of Opus Beauty to style her looks throughout the season. What I'm noticing, Ms. Boyd, if you care to know my opinion, is a barrage of poofy shoulders, awkward proportions, and just plain weirdness. Just cuz you can, doesn't mean you should! And I thought Heidi Klum's stylist had bad taste! (Like, um, could her dresses get any tighter?)

Project Runway: Dmitry vs Fabio

Dmitry Sholokov's "Gorilla Arm" jacket and "Cellulite Thigh" pants

Project Runway: Dmitry vs Fabio

The Project Runway Season 10 Finale, it was like Night vs Day, like the Dungeons vs the Clouds... Dmitry Sholokov's finale collection was dark, architectural, structured, immaculately tailored, featuring optical prints and fringe (!). To the left you see what I call his "gorilla arm" jacket paired with "cellulite thigh" pants. His stuff may look good in a fashion museum, but on a real woman? I dont' know...seems pretty tortured to me. Custom made for the Belarus Dominatrix Club. But that's who the judges chose as the winner.

Fabio Costa, on the other hand, is my personal winner. His clothes brought me to a delicious cloud. With the theme of Cosmic Tribalism (he is a Pleaidian for sure!), his collection took me to the clouds! Layering, soft draping, sensuous fabrics...you could lounge in this all day, whether on the beach, at a gathering, or doing your Merkaba meditation. His clothing moves to a new level, the genius new cosmic future of fashion. Starseed-channeled garments. This is what they wear on my home planet. Revel in the heavens. Fabio, here's to hoping you receive the miracle of a private benefactor who puts your collection out and into the hands of those of us who love it! Mahalo!

Bustown Modern

Bustown Modern

Devestating vintage. I mean, yeah. The GOOD stuff. Fabulous vintage designer that just makes me want to live in 70s. One need almost never bother with the runways again, just ogle these classics. Bustown Modern, somebody's working hard to find these treasures. Thank you. And at the risk of being extremely unpolitically correct, they have the most beautiful furs. Now, fur is a complicated issue. I absolutely do not in any way support fur farms that exploit and harm animals. But...when it's vintage, well, at this point, the purchase of a vintage fur coat no longer supports the fur industry, but at least allows the animals who died to continue being honored. I would wear vintage fur -- but please note, I would never, ever buy one new. Cheers.

Sarah Loertscher :: Structured Jewelry

Structured Jewelry

Another amazing Sarah, hailing from Seattle, Ms. Loertscher's structured jewelry was commisioned for Mila Hermanovski's Autumn/Winter 2012 runway show. (Yes, that would be Mila of Project Runway, Season 7, whose edgy work I also admire, though wouldn't necessarily know how to wear, myself not being "urban" or "LA" enough). But back to Sarah Loertscher, who you can find on Facebook, and who makes earrings, brooches, necklaces, and all variety of geometric beauty in sterling silver. Love.
